Getting Your Child the Right ABA Therapy in San Lorenzo Is Harder Than It Should Be
Families in San Lorenzo and Castro Valley often tell us the same thing: by the time they found the right ABA provider, they had already spent months lost in a system that was never designed to be easy to navigate — especially without English as a first language.
Whether you're just starting out or you've been through the Regional Center process before, the questions pile up fast. What does RCEB actually cover? How does the Self-Determination Program work? Will your insurance authorize services? And most importantly — who will actually show up for your family and communicate with you clearly?
New to the System
You just received a diagnosis and have no idea where to start. The Regional Center paperwork, insurance authorizations, and ABA referrals all feel overwhelming at once.
Language Is a Barrier
You speak Cantonese or Vietnamese at home and have struggled to find a provider who communicates clearly — not just translates, but truly understands your family's culture and values.
Looking for a Better Fit
You've been through an ABA provider already but something wasn't right — inconsistent staff, a BCBA you rarely saw, or a program that didn't feel built for your child.
How Families in San Lorenzo Access ABA Therapy
There are multiple pathways to funding ABA therapy in Alameda County — and most families don't realize how many options they have. SoPo works with all of them, and we'll help you understand which path makes the most sense for your child.
Regional Center of the East Bay (RCEB)
RCEB serves families across Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, including San Lorenzo and Castro Valley. If your child has a developmental disability diagnosis, RCEB may fund ABA services at no cost to your family. SoPo is an approved RCEB vendor.
Self-Determination Program (SDP)
California's Self-Determination Program gives your family more control over how ABA services are delivered and who provides them. SoPo works with all FMS providers, so if you're enrolled in SDP, you can choose us — no waitlist, no restrictions.
Commercial Insurance
We accept Anthem Blue Cross, Cigna, Aetna, and Alameda Alliance for Health. If you're unsure whether your plan covers ABA therapy, we can help you verify your benefits before you commit to anything.
Caregiver-Led ABA Therapy Built Around Your Family
At Social Potential ABA, every part of how we deliver therapy is intentional — from how we communicate with families to how we structure sessions. Here is what that looks like for the families we serve in San Lorenzo and Castro Valley.
BCBA-Direct Sessions
Every session is led by a qualified behavior analyst — not a rotating team of behavior technicians. Your child gets consistent, expert support from someone who knows their goals, their personality, and your family.
You Are Part of Every Session
Caregiver involvement is not optional at SoPo — it is the foundation of how we work. You will learn alongside your child so the strategies that work in therapy also work at home, in the community, and in daily life.
Culturally Responsive Care
We understand that what "progress" means varies by family, culture, and values. We don't apply a one-size-fits-all framework — we build a plan that reflects your family's actual priorities and way of life.
Services in English, Cantonese & Vietnamese
We serve multilingual families with fluency — not just translation. If your family communicates in Cantonese or Vietnamese, so do we. That matters not just for comfort, but for the quality and accuracy of care.
